we’re driven by a mission to empower sustainable living through innovative solutions that harness solar energy and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things). Clean cooking is at the heart of this vision. By replacing traditional, harmful cooking methods with solar-powered, AIoT-enabled technologies, we’re transforming lives while addressing pressing global challenges. This blog post explores why clean cooking matters to us, focusing on its profound health, environmental, and economic impacts.

Health Impacts: Cleaner Kitchens, Healthier Lives

Globally, household air pollution from traditional cooking methods like wood or charcoal fires causes over 3 million premature deaths annually, per the World Health Organization. In the Global South, 2.3 billion people rely on solid fuels, with Nigeria alone seeing approximately 95,000 deaths yearly due to this issue (Roche et al.)

For us, this is personal—every family deserves a safe home. Our solution eliminates smoke entirely, delivering clean, safe cooking. Integrated AIoT sensors monitor performance ensuring optimal operation and safety. For us, this is about giving families—especially in the global south and Nigeria where women and children are most affected—a healthier future.

Environmental Impacts: A Sustainable Future

Traditional cooking with wood, charcoal, and cooking gas contributes to 1 gigaton of carbon dioxide equivalent annually, about 2% of global CO2 emissions, and drives deforestation, with 2.4 billion people worldwide using wood-based fuels (CCA). In Nigeria, over 70% of households rely on firewood, exacerbating one of the highest deforestation rates globally (Roche et al.). Cooking gas, while less harmful than biomass, is a fossil fuel that contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and relies on non-renewable resources, with production and distribution processes that can lead to methane leaks. Our solar-powered induction cooker uses renewable energy, slashing emissions and preserving forests without the environmental footprint of gas extraction or transportation. AIoT optimizes energy efficiency, ensuring reliability even in variable sunlight. By scaling this solution, we’re advancing global sustainability goals (SDG 13) and supporting Nigeria’s climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Economic Impacts: Driving Prosperity Through Innovation

Traditional cooking methods, including wood, charcoal, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), impose significant economic burdens on households, particularly in the Global South and Nigeria. The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) notes that women and children globally spend up to 10 hours a week gathering fuel, limiting time for income-generating activities or education. Additionally, the rising cost of biomass due to scarcity and insecurity strains household budgets.

Our solution addresses these challenges by leveraging free solar energy, eliminating recurring fuel costs associated with wood, charcoal, and LPG. While the upfront cost of the cooker requires investment, we'll mitigate this through innovative financing models, and partnerships. This frees up household budgets and time, particularly for women in Nigeria and the Global South, enabling them to pursue education, entrepreneurship, or other economic opportunities.

Why It Matters to Us

Our solar-powered induction cooker is more than a product—it’s a commitment to global impact.

  • Worldwide Relevance: With 2.3 billion people lacking clean cooking access, our solution addresses a universal need, from Sub-Saharan Africa to South Asia.
  • Global South Focus: In regions with high solar potential and limited infrastructure, our cooker offers a scalable, off-grid solution.
  • Nigeria’s Needs: With heavy reliance on biomass and low grid connectivity, Nigeria is a priority market where our technology can transform rural and urban households.

Leveraging solar energy and AIoT, we ensure affordability and usability. Our cookers are designed for local contexts, with AIoT enabling culturally tailored interfaces and remote support, critical for Nigeria’s diverse regions.

Challenges and Our Approach

Scaling clean cooking globally faces hurdles and we recognize the challenges. Acechess technology Ltd. tackles these head-on:

  • Affordability: We’re adopting innovative financing models and partnerships, tailored for Nigeria’s low-income households to make our solutions accessible.
  • Distribution: Partnerships with NGOs and local governments, informed by our focus on community engagement, ensure last-mile delivery in the Global South.
  • Adoption: We design with local cultures in mind, ensuring our products resonate with users’ needs and traditions.

Call to Action

Clean cooking is a game-changer, and we’re just getting started. As a startup, we’re committed to harnessing solar energy and AIoT to transform lives, one kitchen at a time.
